ABOUT PALEOPIX

Why “PaleoPix”? We all have a story.

About the Owner, Penny

I am a paleontologist with a passion for photography and a deep love for cats. From this seemingly unlikely combination, PaleoPix was born.

PaleoPix also has a mission…

A few years ago, I opened my home to cats that were elderly, hospice, and/or special needs – the cats that would not fare well in a traditional shelter. Thus began Mew-Mew House. Bringing these cats into my world changed everything for me.

When I decided to start PaleoPix, I joked that I was starting a business to support my cat habit. It’s no joke. Everything I do is to provide food, shelter, veterinary care, and an enriching life for animals that might otherwise have been euthanized. Probably the best decision I’ve ever made.

When I draw your pets, they and you become part of the extended PaleoPix family. Come join us!

Pet Portrait Art

I understand the place that animals occupy in our families. My portrait art isn't just a snapshot. Not just an ordinary photo. It's a thoughtful portrait, encapsulating the story and meaning of your pet in your world. I work with you to ensure that the final art piece perfectly captures the feelings that your pet gives you.

I can create the perfect digital portrait from your favorite photo or can combine portions of several of your favorite pics to make the ultimate portrait. I'll make adjustments and corrections before sending the final product, plus you'll get to see in-progress drawings as I work.

PaleoPix (noun) pa·le·o·pix /′peI-ləI-əʊ-piks/

A business in Western New York dedicated to capturing and preserving the art of nature and the joy of living things through photography.

Etymology: Paleo- from Greek palaio- meaning old or ancient; Pix plural form of pic, a slang word for photograph.

Dedication: Our Pawprint

There once was a cat named Animal. She was a resident at Mew-Mew House for only a very short time but came with an enormous legacy. She had been the closest confidant to artist Eric for all be a few weeks of her nearly 19 years of life. Animal had such an impact on the lives of those she met that with her passing in December of 2019, I decided that her memory would live on as a symbol for PaleoPix. She represents the deep and abiding connections that people can have with their pets.
