Mew-Mew House - Cat Hospice and Retirement

Mew-Mew House is a hospice and retirement home for cats. Our mission is to provide a loving and enriching home for cats who may otherwise be subject to euthanasia or spending the end of their lives in shelters. We provide this service not only for the cats we care for, but for families, shelter workers, and animal healthcare workers who are faced with the heartbreak of deserving cats in desperate situations.

We encourage the participation of volunteers who support our mission and are willing to contribute at whatever level they are capable. The information provided through this form will be kept confidential and will help us determine the most satisfying and appropriate volunteer opportunity for you.

Depending on availablility, comfort, and capability, it is possible that volunteers could stay for several days including overnights in a private apartment over the garage, accessible via a stairway.

There is also a stairway between the two floors of Mew-Mew House.

Both sets of stairs can be troublesome if you have leg problems. We don't want anyone to hurt themselves trying to help the cats.

Every little thing helps. If you're not comfortable with pilling cats, for example, your help would still be appreciated for other tasks.

Please share which tasks are comfortable for you, or that you are willing to learn.

There are dogs at Mew-Mew House, segregated to one side of the house. Interaction with them is optional.

Feeding and Medicating ("Fedicating") occurs at 8:00 am and 8:00 pm daily. The process, including the daily cleaning of litterboxes takes about one hour.

Please expect that you will spend at least two hours on site for any time that you volunteer.

This is not a commitment to volunteer during those times, just a general availability.
