“L” is for Litocherus

Litocherus is a little mammal in the Order Erinaceomorpha. Modern members of this order include the completely adorable hedgehog.

Prior to research in The Breaks, Litocherus lacunatus was known only from the Tiffanian (though the genus Litocherus had been found in Torrejonian-aged rocks in Wyoming). New discoveries show that it actually first appeared in the late Torrejonian.

In this image, D, E, and F are specimens of Litocherus. Notice how small they are compared to the pin that the jaws are glued to.
